Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at ken@ClearFlowSepticPumping.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Clear Flow Septic Pumping Inc. is a small business based in La Grange, NC specializing in septic tanks and systems.  Our professional staff has the knowledge and experience to address your immediate needs as well as your long term needs.

Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3–5 years, but the actual schedule depends on household size, tank size, water usage, and what goes down the drains. Homes with garbage disposals, large families, or frequent laundry use may need more frequent service.

Common warning signs include:

  • Slow drains or toilets
  • Gurgling plumbing sounds
  • Sewage odors outside or inside
  • Wet or soggy spots in the yard
  • Toilets backing up
  • Grass growing unusually fast over the drain field

If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to schedule service before a major backup occurs.

Most septic pumping appointments take about 30–60 minutes depending on tank size, accessibility, and condition.

Not always. If we can access the septic tank and there are no locked gates or pets in the area, service can often be completed without anyone home. We can provide invoices and payment options electronically.

Many tanks are buried and not visible from the surface. If you’re unsure where your tank is located, we may be able to help locate it using county records, inspection ports, or probing equipment.

Avoid flushing or draining:

  • “Flushable” wipes
  • Grease or cooking oil
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Paper towels
  • Harsh chemicals
  • Paints or solvents
  • Excessive bleach
  • Cat litter

These items can damage your system or cause expensive clogs.

Yes. Excessive rain can saturate the drain field and reduce the system’s ability to properly drain. This can sometimes cause slow drains or backups.

Routine maintenance helps:

  • Prevent costly backups
  • Extend system life
  • Protect your drain field
  • Reduce emergency repairs
  • Maintain property value

Preventive pumping is far less expensive than replacing a failed septic system.

Pricing depends on tank size, accessibility, location, and the condition of the system. We provide upfront pricing with no hidden fees.  You will know the cost before we start work.  If we run into a problem, you will be notified before incurring any additional costs.

Most residential tanks range from 750–1,500 gallons. If you don’t know your tank size, we can often estimate it using county records or system information.

In most cases, additives are unnecessary if the tank is pumped regularly. Some additives can even harm the system or upset the natural bacteria balance.

You can help your system last longer by:

  • Pumping on schedule
  • Conserving water
  • Fixing leaks promptly
  • Avoiding grease and wipes
  • Keeping vehicles off the drain field
  • Directing rainwater away from the system

During service we typically:

  1. Locate and open the tank
  2. Inspect liquid and sludge levels
  3. Pump waste from the tank
  4. Check for visible signs of damage or concern
  5. Properly dispose of waste at approved facilities

No. Heavy vehicles can crush pipes, compact soil, and damage the septic tank or drain field.

Yes. If you are experiencing backups, overflows, or urgent septic issues, contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to respond quickly.
